Many private facilities will have very nice accommodations and be located in very vacation friendly locales. They will typically offer a number of different types of therapies, including both inpatient and outpatient. They may also have some therapies that most mainstream, federal or state facilities may not, such as yoga acupuncture, therapy via art and meditation. They also may be a little bit more flexible especially if they are not funded by a federal program. Individuals might be able to experience more customized programs and those that are a bit more creative in nature.

Private pay alcohol rehab programs run the gamut in regards to what types of services they will provide. Some will offer a medical detox program complete with a doctor or nurse on staff. They may also be able to offer help with other types of addictions such as drugs.

Long term alcohol rehab programs are for individuals that need both intensive and extensive care. These may be individuals that have been addicted to alcohol for a long time or who have tried other types of program with no success. Individuals that have become seriously addicted physically may also enter this type of facility because they require alcohol detox amongst other treatments. Below, we will take a closer look and go into more detail about who would be best served with this type of program

a. Individuals that have been addicted to alcohol for a long time: Persons that have struggled with alcohol for a long time may need to enter a long term alcohol rehab program. This is because these are very intensive and will likely offer an holistic approach to recovery. The facility is set up to thoroughly treat alcoholism.

There are many individuals that have been addicted to alcohol for years and who may have tried to give up drinking on their own but to no avail. Addicts that have not been able to figure out a way to stop drinking may need to try a different, more intensive approach. This is exactly what long term alcohol rehab is. It is an opportunity for individuals to get a lot of attention and focused treatment for a good length of time. Long term facilities typically treat addicts for months at a time, even up to a year.

b. Persons that have tried other types of alcohol rehab: Many times, people who end up entering long term alcohol rehab programs have already tried various other types of programs. These may have included outpatient, day patient and 12-step programs. Perhaps the timing wasn’t right or they simply needed more help then could be provided in these other types of facilities or programs.

c. Individuals with strong physical addictions: Long term alcohol rehab programs often times make available alcohol detox. This is a medical intervention for those who are physically addicted to alcohol and who may have serious or even dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Because long term centers are often equipped for this, many addicts who need this type of care enroll in these facilities.

After an alcoholic has gone through detox, in many cases, they will be ready for rehabilitation. Some people are unwilling to even try to quit because they fear the withdrawal symptoms. If they can get in a place that will ease those symptoms a bit through medication or who at least will be there to see them through it, they may be more apt to give up drinking. Long term facilities can offer both detox and long-term follow up care.

If someone that you know and love or if you need help for a serious alcohol addiction, consider receiving help at a long term rehab facility. These are generally equipped (at least the good ones are) to help people stop drinking for good. Long term care gives the alcoholic an adequate amount of time to work at their issues and learn how to live life without a dependence on alcohol.
